Fence repair and replacement
We repair wood and chain link fences and gates, including leaning posts, broken rails, loose pickets, and storm damage. When a fence is past repair, we replace it and haul the old one off.
Leaning fences and broken posts
A fence section usually leans because its post has rotted or broken at the ground. We pull the old post, set a new galvanized steel or cedar post in concrete, and refasten the rails. If only one post is bad, we can fix it without rebuilding the run.
Rails, pickets, and storm damage
We repair cracked rails, split or loose pickets, missing kickboards, and sections pushed over by wind or a fallen limb. We replace the boards and rails to match the fence. New cedar starts lighter than the old boards and weathers toward their color.
Chain link repairs
We repair chain link fences with sagging or torn fabric, a bent top rail, or a leaning post. We restretch or replace the fabric, replace the rail, and reset the post in concrete.
Gates that sag or drag
Gates that sag, drag, or won’t latch are part of our gate repair work.
Repair or replace
When posts are failing along the whole run, replacing the fence makes sense. We take the old fence out and haul it off. In the City of Austin, Austin City Code § 25-2-899 brings the whole fence under the safe-fencing rules when replacement covers more than 50 percent of an existing fence’s length.
What repairs cost
HomeGuide’s fence repair cost page, dated February 20, 2026, puts standard repairs such as replacing a panel or fixing a post at $300 to $900. Our fence cost guide has more published figures.
