Chain link fences
We build galvanized and black-coated chain link fences in Austin and the towns around it for dogs, side yards, and back property lines. We also make matching walk and drive gates.
Galvanized or black
Galvanized chain link has the plain silver finish. On black-coated chain link, the posts, rails, and fabric are coated black, which helps the fence blend into a yard and trees.
How we build it
We set the posts in concrete. Line posts go along the run, with heavier terminal posts at the ends, corners, and gates. We run a top rail along the posts, then stretch the fabric tight and hold it at the terminal posts with tension bars and bands.
Walk and drive gates
We hang walk gates and double drive gates in matching chain link on the terminal posts. Both types are part of our gates work.
Height and permits
City of Austin Development Services says chain link is generally considered ornamental, so the property-line height limits in its code don’t apply to it. Under its fence height and permit rules, a fence over 7 feet still needs a permit.
What it costs
Angi’s Austin chain link page, updated August 4, 2026, puts the average chain link fence in Austin at $2,899, with most projects between $1,817 and $4,462. Fence pricing is also covered in what a fence costs in Austin.

The City of Austin generally treats chain link as ornamental, so its property-line height limits don’t apply. The City of Austin requires a permit for a fence over 7 feet at any point. Our guide to fence height and permit rules has the details.
Do you repair chain link?
Yes, we repair chain link fences with sagging fabric, a bent top rail, or a leaning post. We also fix a gate that drags as part of our fence repair work.
